Social Life at Arizona State University
Arizona State University is located in Tempe, Arizona and currently has roughly 65,000 students enrolled throughout its four campuses. ASU is a rather large campus and it may be quite a daunting task choosing where to eat, where to meet new people or finding something you can do with your spare time. Also a big decision while attending college is whether a student should live on or off campus and I will address those in this article as well.
Restaurants/Fast Food
ASU has countless places to get food whether you are craving American, Middle Eastern, Oriental, or Italian this campus has it all. There are also 3 buffet styled cafeterias located throughout the campus and they offer a very wide variety of food and is probably the best deal for the money. All of the on campus food locations are very highly recommended and have food for everyone including those on a vegetarian diet.
Meeting New People
Meeting new people on ASU campuses is the easiest thing I have ever done. Besides meeting people in class there are hundreds of student organizations and events where you can meet new people. You can join clubs and do your favorite hobby whether it is playing a particular sport or just playing video games there is a club for those. If you by chance cannot find a club offering something you like you have the opportunity to start your own club and recruit members. I personally met people by attending the ASU football games. The environment and energy during football games is intense which makes it very easy to meet new people. At this school there are countless opportunities to meet new people and have a great time.
Killing Time
If you happen to find yourself on campus there are endless things a person can do to kill time. The most popular thiings students tend to do is go to the Student Recreation Center (SRC). This facility has a swimming pool, treadmills, athletic equipment, tennis courts, soccer/football fields, and a basketball court. For those who are not into sports or keeping fit there are countless lounges with televisions, air hockey, and pool. On the ASU campus there is bound to be something for everyone if they find themselves with nothing to do.
On Campus Living
On campus living can be a more expensive option but there are many incentives and benefits for students living in an on campus dorm. Living on campus makes it very easy to meet new people and make new friends. In the dorms you are normally surrounded by people in your academic year. Students living on campus also have more access to study groups and computer labs that those who live off campus have restricted or limited access to. With benefits however comes cons. After living on campus this year I found that the cons of living on campus are going to prevent me from living in a dorm in future years. First off you have very little control over the room mates that you will live with for the academic year. I unfortunately got stuck with room mates that smoke weed and drink on a daily basis and on top of that they bring an average of 10 people into the room at a time and play loud music early in the morning. Living on campus has been one of the worst experiences of my life. Countless stuff has gotten stolen from me and my room mates do nothing to help or make the situation better. My recommendation would be finding an apartment close to campus and avoid having to go through anything like this.
Off Campus Living
Depending on where you live off campus living can be a less expensive option for students attending college. Around ASU there are many apartments and homes for rent. The benefits for living off campus are a lot better than the incentives offered for on campus living. First off you get to choose your room mates if you want any and you get to live and study in an environment that is peaceful and quiet which is priceless. Also a student does not need to pay in upwards of $800.00 for parking their vehicle. The only con that I find for living off campus is being farther away from campus other than that there are only benefits. Students living off campus will not be plagued by disrespectful room mates or 10:00 quiet hours. Take my advice and live on campus if given the opportunity you will not regret it.If you need dissertation writing service then click on link.
